Abstract:

This dataset shows the vertical survey control points (known as benchmarks) on Pohnpei. The benchmarks define the orthometric height (elevation in meters above local mean sea level). They were established by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) - National Geodetic Survey (NGS) between 2011 and 2012 using leveling. It was formatted for GIS by the University of Guam.

Purpose: To show the vertical survey control points on Pohnpei.

The dataset is included in the Digital Atlas of Micronesia, module Pohnpei, created by Island Research & Education Initiative (iREi), in collaboration with Water and Environmental Research Institute of the Western Pacific (WERI) University of Guam and partial funding from United States Geological Survey (USGS), under WRRI 104-B Program, project # 2016GU302B.
